GIVING
Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Rice & Beans Dinner 2008!
The annual "Engineers Without Borders Rice & Beans Dinner" was held on Saturday, October 4, 2008.
The event was held in St. Patrick's Ballroom on the Rolla campus of Missouri University of Science & Technology.
The theme of a "rice and beans" dinner is in recognition that these are the staples of many of the countries
in Latin America that EWB serves. Each of the EWB teams produced an audiovisual presentation, summarizing
their efforts in various parts of the western hemisphere.
The GBD Foundation used the occasion of the "Rice and Beans Dinner" to present a grant of $9,000 to
EWB.

Juan Fragoso, who traveled with EWB to Solola, Guatemala in May, 2008 and his wife, Carmen, came
all the way from Naperville, IL to attend the dinner and presentation by The Foundation. Juan and Pat Donohue worked
together as engineers at Commonwealth Edison, the public electric utility in northern Illinois. Click here
The Foundation in Gavin's honor was his cousin Clare's idea. They were the same age, and remained close over the years.
Clare and her fiance, Josh Lund, are shown in this photo. Josh was invaluable in making Donoroo 2008 a success. Click here

presentation are Will Strupp, a very good friend of Gavin's, who was instrumental in the Donoroo success and Will's girlfriend,
Madeleine, in the red blouse. Will also was on the EWB Solola team. Click here
